An End To Apathy You will find few who would contest that the political process in the United States - and the world aboard - has been steered increasingly by the influence of corporate conglomerates and the mega-rich elite. The economic and social result is frequently financial success for businesses at the expense of the citizens for whom the system was created. Apart from a handful of elected officials, principled politics has all but vanished from Washington and the Western democratic process. So tightly pleated into our political system is the sway of ‘big money’ that it appears impossible to unweave it. The prevailing sense of hopelessness is so pervasive that voter apathy is considered at best understandable and, at worst, a virtue. If something is to be done, accountability must be brought back into politics for all those who accept money and cushy jobs from big corporations and special interest lobbyists. To be effective, accountability must be achieved outside of the compromised court systems. These two objectives were the inspiration for End Political Corruption’s three tier program: The first two tiers, the Pledges, bind inside a non-legal forum the ideals of each voter and politician. Simply put, signers of the People’s Pledge promise to support and vote for only those candidates who have signed and uphold the guidelines of their signed document, the Official’s Pledge. The Official’s Pledge is a signed promise by elected civil servants not to accept money from corporations and special interests. The third tier is the Whistleblower Program - a fund financed by donations from Pledge members and other concerned citizens - that aids and supports those who deliver relevant information on corruption to the public. Since the public requires strong facts on corrupt dealings to bring accountability back to politics, the Whistleblower Program is maybe the most important of End Political Corruption’s three tier system. The more money that's raised, the more the fund can protect and defend those who would risk their jobs and security in an effort to report political corruption. Public apathy towards the political system has become a psychological burden on democratic citizens. The disheartening understanding that one’s political opinion and desires hold no sway with elected officials will continue to crush the spirits of future generations unless some thing is done to end it. End Political Corruption has devised a strategy to diminish, and ultimately dissuade, elected officials from engaging in corruption. All that's required is the participation of concerned citizens who are tired of government policies that affect no positive public change. For Republican, Democrat or Independent, one would strain to imagine a more uniting principle then ending corruption in America. Only time will inform whether or not the electorate is up to the challenge.
