If you lose your keys or buy a car with no keys you can hire a locksmith or change the lock yourself. ==General Motors== GM started keeping records of which vehicle had what key pattern in the early 1990's. You can just go to your dealer with your proof of ownership of that particular vehicle' and they can make you a key. ===Remove center=== ===Remove nut=== ===Pull wheel=== Use a puller to remove the steering wheel. They usually come right off but occasionally you run into a stubborn one. A light tap with a hammer on the end of the puller will jar those loose. ===Remove column lock=== This part requires using a special tool that pushes in on the column lock plate so you can remove the clip. Although this can be done without the tool, the tool makes it considerably easier. Removing the little spring wire clip is always the most aggravating part of changing the lock. ===Remove Emergency flasher switch=== Remove the Phillips screw in the center of the switch. ===Loosen turn signal=== Remove the Phillips screw holding the clip that holds the turn signal lever. Remove the three Phillips screws that hold the switch. Gently pull out to loosen. ===Pull lockset=== Remove the buzzer switch. Remove the set screw. Remove the switch. ===Install new lock=== Just reverse the process. ==Chrysler== Often the same as General Motors. ==Ford== Ford started keeping records of which vehicle had what key pattern in 1996. You can just go to your dealer with your proof of ownership of that particular vehicle and they can make you a key. From 1970 to 1996 if you lost the keys to your Ford vehicle, try using a 10 pound slide hammer and a self-tapping screw that is longer than the key you lost. ==Others==
