''Use this page to request wiki improvements and track wiki bugs.'' ==Fixing remaining bugs after server move== There are still some lingering bugs after the server move. List them here: ==Formalizing signatures== Omit two dashes from signature standard, or automatically add them to the signature output, and not prepended to the input string. See [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sign_your_posts_on_talk_pages Signatures]. Suggested by Mmerlinn. :Personally, I see this as a non issue for the most part, but if there's a "correct" way other than how we've been doing it then I suppose there's a point. I could see omitting the two dashes from some point going forward, but I cannot see going back and deleting the dashes from every previous signature unless it can be done using some software shortcut.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 12:35, 5 June 2012 (MDT) ::I did happen across something on the Crankshaft Coalition wiki user [http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Special:Preferences Preferences] page/User profile/under Signature: Instructions that "Comments on talk pages should be signed with "[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 07:48, 10 June 2012 (MDT)" which will be converted into your signature and a timestamp." So it does appear there are conflicting directions even here on the wiki as to how the sig should be formatted.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 07:48, 10 June 2012 (MDT) ==Bugs originally listed on Jon's talk page== The following error messages/pages are still seen when saving pages, edits, uploading files, etc. Often it takes several page reload attempts to get a save that "takes". Same spam prevention prompts are usually being displayed twice for every save being done, and sometimes the prompts are displayed even when no links are being added. ===Odd 'error' pages displayed after saving a page or file=== Every time I save a page, I'm getting error message/pages. I'm also being prompted to answer the spam prevention question- even when no external link is being saved. Anyway, the screenshots below is what appears after a save (the saves have been successful even though error messages are displayed). When a file uploaded or an edited page is saved, if the page is refreshed after the error message page comes up, this prompts another file or page save identical to the one just made. That's why there are several identical "File:400steam holes deck.jpg" images and Q-jet rebuild article pages uploaded one after another.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 18:56, 4 April 2012 (MDT) ;Links to screenshots of the error message pages: *[http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:Screenshot_error_page_after_saving_edited_article.jpg Error page seen after saving an edited article] *[http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:Screenshot_after_file_upload.jpg Error page seen after a file upload] *[http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:Screenshot_error_page.jpg Spam prompt/error message, when no link was submitted] (This prompt also comes up when a link IS being saved, but it '''always''' asks for it to be submitted at least twice, often followed by an [http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:Edit_conflict_error_page.jpg "edit conflict" error page], before the edit is saved.) --[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 08:16, 5 April 2012 (MDT) ==Bug in alphabetizing an article's name on the category page== When a page is moved to change the name (and in some cases when the name is deleted and replaced by a different name), the new name appears under the old name's first letter, OR the new title appears under the correct letter, but the letter is misplaced to where the ''original'' first letter would have been located. A screen shot can be seen [http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:Rearend_category_L.jpg '''here''']. In this case, the original name "Positraction - Limited slip differentials" was deleted and was replaced by "Limited slip and locking differentials". The link shows the new name under "L", but "L" is in the correct position for "P".--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 03:09, 6 June 2012 (MDT) ===Fix=== So far all I have found that works is to remove all previous categories from the page that's out of order, then add 'Category:Undeveloped articles' to the page and save it. Then retrieve the page from Category:Undeveloped articles, add the original categories back to the page, then save again. At this point, the problem is resolved.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 03:32, 6 June 2012 (MDT) :Had another case of this, fixed on on 7-23 (actually saw it several days earlier, could have been that way for a while). Same fix used to put things back in sync. Odd bug, though.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 21:14, 23 July 2012 (MDT) ==Multiple saves during some edits seen on the Recent changes page== These are unrelated to any problems here. Instead, they are being done to avoid losing any work because of my on-again, off-again ISP.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 23:47, 6 June 2012 (MDT) [[Category:Wiki information]] ==Hotrodders forum wiki-related bugs== ===Main page=== The Wiki Tech Article Updates are not changing- they’ve been stalled for a long time now. ===Member wiki edit count=== This is also stalled, hasn’t changed since about 4-1-12.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 00:39, 8 June 2012 (MDT) ==Template category page bug(?)== I added ten oft-used templates to the [http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Category:Templates Template category page]. When I went to the page to check the progress, I see it has filled up w/pages that contain the various templates, as well as showing the templates themselves. Before I added the templates, the page looked like [http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:Orig_category_templates_page.jpg '''this''']. As can be seen in the linked-to image above, the category "Templates" has been added to all pages that contain any of the templates that I added to the Category:Templates page. I will stop adding any more templates. It seems I can't remove the templates from the individual pages because the category does not appear in the edit screen of the page. I will probably need to remove the templates from the Templates page for the articles to be removed from the Templates page if there is no work around. But I thought this was an odd development.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 17:48, 8 June 2012 (MDT) ===Fix=== By using modified text for adding each template to the Templates category page, I am now able to list ''just'' templates without having every page appear on the Templates category page that contains that template. The text used to add a template to the Category:Templates page is: '''<nowiki><noinclude> [[Category:Templates|{{PAGENAME}}]] </noinclude></nowiki>''' --[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 14:46, 18 June 2012 (MDT) ==Spam filter bug== The spam filter settings are preventing me from doing some edits and from creating templates. An example can be seen [http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/File:SPAM_FILTER_REJECTION_OF_EDIT.jpg '''here'''], where I was trying to add the Template category to a template. I got the same thing when trying to create an "Attention" template, using the red exclamation point from the Warning template. That spam block is [File:Template spam block.jpg '''here'''].--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 18:14, 8 June 2012 (MDT) ===Fix=== I found that by using only part of the text that appeared in the original template I can now create different templates, using the red exclamation point that was originally used only on the [[Template:Warning]] template. A couple examples of the new templates are: [[Template:Note1]] and [[Template:Attention]] I cannot add the text here so it can be seen because the spam filter blocks it. But suffice to say the text has to do with how the template is formatted, and it would be ''very'' helpful if the spam filter would be modified to allow that text to be used. --[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 14:46, 18 June 2012 (MDT) :I'm working on this. It looks like that text is tripping the spam regular expression filter. See [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgSpamRegex here] for more details.--[[User:Jon|Jon]] 11:55, 19 June 2012 (MDT) ==Deleting files== I am not able to delete images from the files page that are newer than April 2, 2012. That's about 67 days. Does that make sense, like is there a built in delay before images can be deleted?--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 22:59, 8 June 2012 (MDT) ==Reasons for blocking a user or deleting a page== When blocking a user or deleting a page made by a new user that does not relate to Crankshaft Coalition wiki subjects, there is a box that offers a selection of reasons for blocking, like ''Inserting false information, Removing content, Spamming links'', etc., and reasons for deletion, like ''Author request, Copyright violation, and Vandalism''. There could be another reason added to those options, like '''''Non automotive content''''' or something else that conveyed that idea, instead of selecting "Other" and typing in the reason.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 07:02, 12 June 2012 (MDT) ==Video embedding not working== The EmbedVideoPlus parser hook is installed, but the video insertion tags are not being parsed to display the videos. We might possibly use another video extension. See here: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Category:Video_player_extensions .
