Consumer reviews are considered to be one of the most influential ways of branding a business. It works like advertisement, except that reviews are written by customers instead of the business owner or marketing manager. There is no question that reviews can make or break a company, but it is considered a double-edge blade. More about this below. Positive vs Negative Reviews There is only one goal when it comes to reviews, and that is to get positive ones. In online store Amazon.com, for example, consumers get to rate a product from 1 to 5. Ratings of 4 to 5 stars are considered positive while ratings of 3 stars and below are considered negative. Products sold on Amazon also get an average rating, which give potential buyers a quick look on the product’s score. By looking at the average score, it’s no longer necessary to look at the reviews one by one (unless they want to read the comments left by the reviewer). Getting positive reviews reflects a great product, so people will buy more from its manufacturer, while companies with negative reviews means people will buy less from them. How Businesses Benefit from Reviews A long time ago, word of mouth is very important in a business’ success. It works like fire, but in a positive way. When someone likes a company’s service or goods, he’d go ahead and tell people about it. As word spreads like fire, more and more people will support the business. Reviews are a lot like these, but with the internet added to the equation. Because of technology, it’s now easier for people to put a good word about a business. Once a review is posted, it reaches tens of thousands of people – all potential customers of the business. What is a Good Review? A good review should tell about the product’s pros and cons. Here’s an example of a good review: “ Over the years I have acquired several garlic presses of various quality and price. Some performed better than others, most broke down and a couple of expensive high-end ones are still usable. My major objection, to all the presses, is the need to squeeze real hard to extrude the garlic; that is a nuisance to elderly, arthritic or weak hands in general. Along comes this terrific, all steel, sturdy garlic press in an elegant sleek design. It is ergonomical and requires minimal squeeze to convey maximum pressure on the contents of the basket. The resulting mince is a homogenous paste whether using a peeled raw clove or one with skin. Also can be used to mince ginger and soft nuts. The press is very easy to clean and is dishwasher safe” See actual [http://www.amazon.com/review/R29A6UO4ZUCTWB garlic press review] here.
