Beween the two versions, the door panels will differ slighly. This Wiki page pertains to both. Some years GM decided to keep the ignition keyway different than the door/Trunk/glove box area in some models. All Fleet models uses the same keyway all around, for instance, Police, Emergency, Tow Trucks and other specialize vehicles. If your door locks on your GM Product doesn't work with the key, there could be many factors that will make this happen, just to name a few, for instance, trash, debris ,sand, dirt, sticks, broken,or worst of all ...wrong key stuck in the keyway.If your Drivers side or the Passenger Side door does not open from the outside or will not unlock automaticaly or manually, There has to be an Inspection inside the door area to determine why this is happening. You will have to remove the door panel to get to view and inspect it to check to see which part is either broken or loose. The rod connects to the handle assy is easy to get at, just remove the two arm rest screws (#3 phillips head) and remove the handle (if equipped) with a tool called "window removal tool" (available at most auto parts stores - look in "help" section) Then remove the remaining clips around the door panel,(Use a tool called a Clip removal Tool) Some clips may break or deform, the best way to locate these clips is to gently move under the panel while moving downward gently prying upwards, when you locate one, put the tool in the fork and press down on handle of the tool, this will cause the forks to push up the plastic Clip and then you can move to the next one to it and start again working your way from the top to the other side top in a U shape formation. While the window is down, lift up on the panel.. Then remove the plastic dust/wind wrapper. These wrappers are lined with a black sticky tar like glue that deforms the plastic sheet when you pull on it, be careful to gently spread it apart, and avoid getting it on your hands. Look where you want to locate the handle assy and while looking in with a flashlight locate the linkage ends, check to make sure they are connected, if not connected, inspect it to see if its broken, worn or missing (look in the bottom if its missing) Replace it if it needs it and put everything back together as you took it apart in the reverse order. If your windows doesn't move down or up, the gear is stripped or bent. If electrical switch, remove it by gently prying up at the rear and sliding the electrical panel foward and with a small hook, locate the plastic tabs on the ends and sides. Pry up gently as they are easy to break and are not repairable...except by replacement...some are heat soaked and will break anyway no matter how easy you are. The electrical rockers can be brought at any auto parts store, usual price is around 20.00 each or a junker/donor for little or nothing. Removal is by using two small screwdrivers ar each end and at the same time, pressing in on both..push out the connector. It goes in one way and goes on the same. Remove and replace. Don't clean the grease off of it, it's there to protect the connection from mosture and insures a good connection. Check the linkage and handle assembly to make sure connector rods are connected and not broken. [[Category:Body and exterior]]
