2013 has gone and we find ourselves ushering in a brand new year.. For many people this is the time of year that preparations are already underway for a summer holiday or for short get aways further along the year such as Christmas and new year for 2015 (wow what a thought, 2015 already!) For many Scotland is on their mind and I have taken it upon myself to investigate a few of the possibilities for you all, if nothing else it will save you having to search and filter hourse Internet searching those places. First of all you need to know what type of accommodation you would prefer for your stay. A lot of people prefer luxury and would like to be cooked and cleaned for and waited upon, and other people have their mind focused more down to earth settings a more rural setting such as that of the countrside of beautiful Scotland and sleeping under the stars an experience you will never forget. Of course the vast majority of people will also would like to stay in a pampered setting with a outdoor hot tube and open fire for cosy nights whilst still being able to cook for themselves. Here is a quick run down of the places that I would look at when looking for a break. It does depend upon the type of stay I am looking for as I am sure it is the same for you too. Farmhouses - the majority of farmhouses are steeped in history and have been renovated to be luxurious havens that make fantastic places to stay. Some are still on working farms and some are not. Staying on a working farm is a real experience so take full advantage of the offers of helping out which your host will be glad to show you. You may find yourself milking cows or collecting chicken eggs and these are experiences that you will probably remember for the rest of your life. Rural Cottages - Scotland has some of the most beautiful cottages in the UK and if not the world. Some of the best ones are located in the middle of the countryside they are perfect for romantic getaways and for memorable breaks. Log cabins and lodges - modern log cabins differ widely from more the traditional built ones. They also offer a wide variety of features. Modern lodges tend to have a more modern appeal than traditional builds (in my experience) such as hot tubs and older styles often have cosy coal/timber fires and more old fashioned feel to them. Holiday houses - can be cosy and spacious and in great locations for those who like a bit more of a city break style stay. Often on the sea front or in towns or cities which makes them stand out from the other accommodation shown on here however you will still have the time of your life but the experiences you can have will be memory making| if you are intent on a city break you should still really enjoy it. Camping - for the more back to basics type of personality and for the many people love this approach to getting away from a busy city life. Yurts and other more weird and wonderful outdoor accommodation seem to be what a lot of people prefer and make a very rewarding place to stay if you don't want to slum it too much, and this may suit you if you are a family. This list is certainly not exhaustive by any means. Cottages have a wide variety and styles from simple to elegant in the lowland or highland countryside. Whatever you are looking for I really do hope this has given you some idea of types of things you can start looking in the search engines for.
