Nowadays, we can get many of our nutrients from vitamins and other supplements, but these aren't a substitute for healthy eating. Instead of taking vitamins, people should modify their diet to include whole food sources that will allow the body to absorb nutrients at a much faster and more efficient rate. Basically, instead of vitamins, focus upon changing your diet so that your body can get the essential nutrients that it needs the natural way. In actuality, your diet should supply most of your nutrients and vitamins should only be a backup. Individuals that are vegetarians, as they do not eat meat, would be lacking B-12 in their diet, therefore necessitating the use of vitamins as a supplement. As always, always eat foods that are rich in nutrients, and use vitamins only as a supplement. It will be more economical and healthier if you can start preparing more foods at home. In our busy lives, it's so easy to run by a fast food place for dinner, but those foods are so much higher in the areas you don't want in your diet. You have the ability to add or subtract ingredients when you prepare meals at home. You can choose to use sugar substitute rather than real sugar, for example. It will also save you money to cook more. Spending a day cooking meals for the week can be tiring, but it will help you stick to not eating out. You could do some cooking on a Sunday night, for example, and have several meals ready for the coming week. Do you get sick often? People that are often ill may be that way due to excess sugar in their diet. It is very hard to go anywhere without seeing some yummy snack that is full of sugar that you can access and eat right away. Foods that we use everyday including tomato sauce, ketchup, and peanut butter have great quantities of sugar that are bad for us. You can start to reduce your consumption of sugar, which includes things like high fructose corn syrup, by reading labels and looking for unsweetened foods. Avoid sugary cereals in the morning, and also try things like cream of wheat or oatmeal that come sugar free. Once you start getting into the habit of eating in a healthier way, it's not that difficult. The main challenge will be on those that eat too much high fructose and carbohydrate foods, something they will have to get used to not eating overtime.
