Software tools to automate Twitter marketing were being heavily promoted a few years ago. It was thought that Twitter was one of the most effective ways to build a list and to get folks to order the products you are promoting. Cutting through the hype, just what kind of results can you expect after employing these Twitter marketing tools? We shall now discuss Twitter marketing and whether or not it is worth your time and expense as part of your IM strategy. I was one of those who was curious to determine if getting a huge following on Twitter was going to help my product promotion endeavors and so bought the tools. I ended up paying for and programs that would get me followers and programs that would essentially advertise my products for me. All in all, I think I paid for about 8 software programs to help with my Twitter marketing adventure. I purchased a program that would automatically follow people for me in an attempt to have them follow me back. If anyone was not following me, I had another program that would automatically remove them from my to-follow list. This would allow me to follow different people once again to get them to follow me. A few of the software I bought are not interesting enough to talk about but I will just mention a helpful program that auto-Tweeted any blog posts I made whenever they were published. In the beginning, I was genuinely happy with the end results after using the programs in combination because they actually delivered on what they promised. I was rapidly brought down to earth when I went over my spreadsheet and saw that I wasn't actually generating any money! I would post to my blog 10 times a day and those posts would be displayed directly on Twitter just like they are supposed to. Aiming to increase the number of daily posts, I found a way to automatically post any number of entries to my blog and hopefully gain more followers on Twitter. Now allow me to share with you my results. In three years, I was able to have a Twitter following of moreo r less ten thousand people. And although you may think that is fantastic, just wait. Also in the past three years I have had more than fifteen thousand of my blog posts that were promoting affiliate products tweeted to my Twitter account. My blog posts appearing on Twitter was the only form of advertising for that blog I did and to find out the effectiveness of Twitter I did not even ping new posts as they were published. Well, you can't say that 3 years isn't long enough to obtain modest results but using Twitter I just got 2 - 4 visitors each day to my blog. My affiliate earnings from 2 sales was $47 and to that you can add $8.65 Adsense revenue - extremely dismal all around! Despite me utilizing programs to make the job simpler and gaining nearly 10,000 followers on Twitter, I still could not turn a decent profit using Twitter marketing for my blog. At the end of the day I'm now out of cash for the Twitter marketing tools I invested in because my dollar return was so small. So in my view, although there may be good ways to promote on Twitter, using the automatic softwares are not the way to go.
