Not everybody wants to read item manuals, however when it pertains to strollers, it must be a must according to the current recommendations being given to US moms. Not checking out the paperwork that comes with a brand-new stroller has been called the concept cause for children getting injured, and in some cases even the cause for a death. Co-director Neil Speight of Freddie and Sebbie says if moms and dads don't read the stroller manual, then they could be faced with picking up the pieces after a dreadful accident. He said... "Small bodies are really fairly delicate, and they do require special handling, so errors are easily made, so the first thing to do, even prior to using the stroller, is to read the item manual, which will list a bunch of cautions and recommendations for moms and dads." Mr Speight discussed that in general most moms were committing several usual errors with their strollers, stating... "One cause for mishaps is hot coffee in the cup holder being spilled on a baby, causing nasty burns, so the best thing to do is to just use the stroller cup holders for cool drinks, and if the call for a hot beverage arises, then just park that stroller and grab a table instead." He also explained how many moms just weren't patient enough to flaunt their newborns to the nearby community, stating that children have to have the ability to sit upright with heads held up to ride safely in standard stroller seats, which is when they reach 8 weeks old. He continued... "Something else to think about regarding age, is when to begin stroller running, a popular pastime for many US moms, as a baby will have to have established a strong enough neck and core muscles to safely handle any bumps en-route. Once again, it's safe to begin running with a stroller when they are about 2 months old, however always seek advice from a pediatrician if uncertain." Fingertip amputation is another common accident caused by moms folding their strollers with the infant too close, with Maclaren needing to call back over 1 million items in 2009 following 12 fingertip amputations had been reported by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. Neil said... "To stay clear of any nasty mishaps, just make certain that while folding or unfolding the stroller, that the baby is a safe distance away, as well as making certain a stroller is safely locked open prior to placing a baby in it." Finally Neil said that hazardous storage like hanging overladen bags on the back of a stroller could also lead to an accident, with it tipping over on top of a youngster or with the child sat in it. He said... "If possible, it's best to put heavy things in the stroller's basket, as well as stay clear of leaving sharp items in any rear pockets, as kids can get harmed when leaning back. Another recommendation for storage would be to use tough stroller hook clips that are designed with security in mind, and one last suggestion would be to use 2 stroller hook clips for safer weight distribution, which will avoid tipping."
