==Overview== Here with your help we will build a list of internet web links for "direct fit" DeSoto High Performance engine parts that interchange easily with very little or no modifications required for the new part to bolt on. Ideally, the parts listed should not be from Hot Heads, TR Waters, EGGE, Kanter or PAW websites. Although these are good suppliers for the most part, the hope is to build a better database of unknown parts suppliers and sources- providing DeSoto Tall Deck Hemi owners a wider variety of parts to choose from. ==New intakes== *1x4, 2x4, 3x2 and blower intakes from Peter Williamson (38 mopar_fan); Hamilton, New Zealand. *Hells Gate Hot Rods makes manifolds, header plates and intake flanges. ==Timing covers== With a little machining and careful attention to detail a stock 318 timing cover can be adapted to a tall Desoto block. Modification to the block is minor. Studs are recommended. The Hot Heads timing cover also has the water pump adaptors on it for use of a SBC water pump. ==Lifters== ===Hydraulic roller lifters=== *The 273-360 LA roller lifters are a DROP-IN on 330 DeSoto engines, with NO modifications necessary to the connecting link. Block modification necessary on low deck blocks. ===Solid lifters=== MOPAR LA lifters fit, check to verify alignment is okay between oil galley and lifter oil holes with the block and cam being used. ==4" forged pistons for blower use== Ross pistons will make the piston that will work for this and customizable, ==HV/HP oil pump== A 340 high volume oil pump with an adaptor plate that about a dozen guys build works great ==Electronic distributor== *Pertronix Ignitor part number 1383 installed in original distributor. ==Performance valves== Rocker stands from Stanke Motorsports sells complete rocker arm assemblies for early Hemis including standard or offset billet stands, shafts, collars, and billet aluminum roller tip rockers. Rocker assemblies for a Red Ram Dodge can be made to work with some machining, the head bolts are 1/16" farther apart on a DeSoto than a Dodge. Shaft diameter is the same as spread, but DeSoto shafts are longer. Can use sbc Chevy valves spring and retainers, and bush the original guides with brass for the smaller stem, also allows for potentially better air flow. ==Connecting rods== 400 Pontiac rods are exact length and bearings are the same diameter, only have a larger wrist pin so you ca either bush them or get toss pistons with bigger wrist pins for the tall deck. Stock Pontiac rods were almost all cast iron, early forged steel rods were no better so that leaves aftermarket Pontiac rods as the better alternative. ==Cam grinding== ===Stock bumpstick for blower use=== *;Donnie Johansen CONTRERAS CAMSHAFTS<br> SHOP phone 909-597-5950<br> Chino, California<br> *;Nielson Vintage Racing Cams<br> 644 West 100 North, P.O.
