{{Note1}}{{Sign2}} {{Refer to page 59; reason lock plate will not go down enough to insert lock ring. In working on my column, I found that the upper race was not seating. By removing the upper housing and then trying to push down the lock plate, I saw that the upper race is driven into place by the preload cup. The fingers of the preload cup need to fit over the top of the machined surface of the shaft. The fingers do not fit inside the race so much as they rest on the top rim of the race (p 56). A bit of lube on the shaft encouraged everything to slip into place during the final assembly. Jazzman, thanks for your comprehensive guide; it provided the clear, detailed instructions I needed for changing the frozen lock cylinder and tightening the "star bolts" in the lower housing.}} {{--[[User:Ltay100|Ltay100]] 00:47, 6 September 2015 (MDT)}} :Jazzman, I too would like to thank your for this excellent article about GM steering columns. :I have 1) part that I'm sure came out of the column when the upper housing was removed, but cannot tell or see where it goes. :I have a picture of it, but do not know how to post it.... I see there's a place for Embedded File; but it doesn't allow uploading a jpg that I can see. :Thanks, gatz--[[User:Gatz|Gatz]] 07:59, 29 June 2016 (MDT) ::Gatz, you can upload a file '''[http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/Special:Upload HERE]'''. Exploded views are '''[http://www.steeringcolumnservices.com/exploded-views.php HERE]''' as well as other places online. Good luck!--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 09:27, 29 June 2016 (MDT) :::When I open a jpg from my computer, I keep getting errors about not being able to make a thumbnail ::::Yeah- there's a glitch of some sort, it's been reported. For now, ignore the thumbnail and scroll down to where you see the date and time in the info table, it's right below the heading "Date/Time". Click on the date/time and that'll bring up the photo. Click on the photo and that will bring up the photo in its own window. Then you can copy the photo address from the address bar. Used the "test page", and was able to get *.jpg uploaded. Then got the pic to open up as explained above. <br /> Copied the info in the address bar (Firefox) and pasted that into this thread; <br /> But it's only a link. <br ?>This is the part I was originally referring to. http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/images/c/cc/78_Malibu_column_clip_1.JPG Is this correct? Or should the picture actually show up in this "page" ? Can a previously Uploaded file be deleted? --[[User:Gatz|Gatz]] 17:00, 30 June 2016 (MDT) :FWIW, I've not seen that clip before. :The formatting used to display the photo is shown in boldface: '''<nowiki>[[File:78_Malibu_column_clip_1.JPG]]</nowiki>'''. You can copy/paste to put it wherever you want it in the wiki. I tried to reduce the size but the glitch prevents that from working so the photo will display the same size as it was uploaded. :You can register at the [http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/ Hotrodders forum] and then ask about the clip [http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/suspension-brakes-steering/ HERE]. That forum is affiliated with this wiki, there are some knowledgeable folks there. :Yes, you can delete previously uploaded files.--[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] 23:08, 30 June 2016 (MDT) reduced image to 50% [[File:78_Malibu_column_clip_1.JPG | none | caption]] == Jazzman: Know where to get parts == Hey Jazzman great article with pics. I'm correcting a loose wheel on an 83 K10. I don't have the loose tilt problem, mines higher up. I found the lower bearing on the stub shaft was gone causing play. All I found was a couple ball bearings and pieces of the cage. Know where I can get the bearings for the stub shaft? Thanks --[[User:Wwiifan|Wwiifan]] 19:16, 2 April 2017 (MDT)
