Slow Ride 66 The Slow Ride was Borrowed from one of my favorite rock & roll songs by Foghat . The 66 comes from the year I was born. I got the nick name from my 1st truck in 1981 a 1970 Chevy 5 door Suburban 250 1 bbl turbo 350. It was a Used & Abused rusted out former Brooklyn Union Gas truck that my Father bought from his Friend Hansie {spelling?} . He was the head Mechanic there. SLOW? OMG Pedal to the metal, Hauling ass, Shitting & a gettin' clipping my toenails on the fan blade........70 MPH down hill with a tail wind. This might be why I have not met anything yet... that I have not been afraid of WOT. Now that I think about it man to be that rusted in a decade well you can just imagine what it went thru in NYC. When I got my license my parents did not see me for I would say 6 months. I was home every day just long enuf to Chit shower stuff my face & get some clean clothes.{I never liked them much anyway} I worked pumping gas & changing oil & tires a real manly service station! I drove the hell out of that thing. A man & his truck it was like a home on wheels if I got tired I would crawl up in the back where I put in some shag carpet with 7 layers of that old rubber padding & snore away or other stuff you might do in a bed. Drive in Movies ,concerts party's to the beach to the woods to where ever all you had to say was hey lets go here & we'd be on our way. from Long Island NY to Tampa ,Florida and over 25 years later & I still have a Suburban a 1985 6 doors & the only way it could be better is if I owned a fleet of them . Chevrolet the poor mans Cadillac Damn the oil Barron's ! Maybe if I am lucky I wont have to buy a coffin. SR66
