Former Christie Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Kelly — under tough cross-examination by Assistant U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna — explained why she had deleted critical emails and text messages implicating her in the lane closures on the George Washington Bridge in September 2013 that caused four days of gridlock. “I deleted them because I was scared,” Kelly said, her voice quivering. “I have not shied away from that from day one.
