However there are body shops that will take on a job for a couple of thousand dollars. These jobs typically can be be pricey, however touch ups and blending can bring the price way down. Changing the color of the vehicle can be much more money and getting all things besides the paint done involves labor which adds into the cost. Paint is fairly inexpensive, and it does not take too long to complete a basic paint job. Metal work costs the most. Rust damage can become extremely expensive to fix especially if many pieces of the body have to be replaced like the floor panels, quarter panes, and rocker panels. Cars with a lot of rust can easily add anywhere from 5-10 thousand dollars to the above figure. Modestly speaking, a thorough well done job to repair rust can easily surpass the 10͵000 dollar mark just to get the car ready for filling and leveling. I advise my clients to always check first for rust and rot as they are or can be the most expensive part of bodywork. There are other alternatives that can save money like fiber glassine and bongo. This you can do yourself and save on the labor just pay for the parts. Great idea if you are only looking to pass inspection and do not care about the look of the car. Removing the lights and door handles also saves time and labor if you bring it to the shop. |
