-In 1980 Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) were standardized using a seventeen digit system. Prior to 1980 manufacturers used VINs unique to their own company. Understanding these codes can be very helpful. Decoding these VINs can be difficult. the purpose of this page is to list resources to aid in identifying these codes.
