Radical Panel Recap<br><br>Radical Publishing hosted a panel at Comic-Con Friday unveiling their current and upcoming titles. On hand were David Wohl (editor),10 Coolest Action Figures Ever Made, Nick Sagan, Mark Long, Zack Sherman, Sam Sarkar, Rick Remender, Steve Niles, Jim Steranko, David Hine, Steve Pugh and Jimmy Palmiotti. The star attraction is reality TV star/musician/burgeoning comics creator Nick Simmons, who was accompanied by father Vogue Online Shop Gene Simmons.<br><br>Jim Steranko talked about 'Hercules', the title the company launched with, which featured covers and characters designs by the legendary comics artist. Steranko got interested in the project when he heard they were looking to avoid the old cliches about the character, including storylines that have been done before, like the 12 labors.<br><br>At the insistance of Wohl, Radical chief Barry Levine stood up from his seat in the audience and showed off his new tattoo, based on Steranko's cover for the first issue of the series. "Barry, our DNA has merged, Steranko proclaimed.<br><br>Radical then showed off artwork from the new 'Hercules' series 'The Knives of Kush' which debuted at the convention and appears in stores next week.<br><br>Another upcoming titles is collected and remastered edition of 'Colly and Flytrap: Central City' by Arthur Sudyam. The comics creator is also working on a new book called 'When Giants Walk The Earth', an all-ages adventures about kids coping with an invasion from another dimension.<br><br>'FVZA - Federal Vampire and Zombie Agency' by David Hine is based on a cult website by Hugo Pacos. The site describes the secret history and science behind a growing plague of zombie and vampire infection in the world. Hine is adapting it for the book, which is due out in October.<br><br>Hine is also writing 'Rider on the Storm' which he Most Popular Cosplay describes as noir meets lovecraft with vampires. One again Jim Steranko is providing designs for the book. "The plotting is absolutely phenominal, said Steranko.<br><br>'Last Days of American Crime' is from Rick Remender. It's a crime noir book set in the near future. After terrorist attacks the government devises a broadcast that will create a pyschological alteration to the American populace that prevents unlawful behavior. Remender's hero is a burned out meth addict has two weeks to pull a heist before crime is turned off. Pandemonium ensues as two-week window closes. Remender likens the environment to a zombie movie, where there's no safe refuge to be found for anyone as things spin out of control.<br><br>Art from the new book 'Incarnate' by Nick Simmons ('Family Jewels') debuted. Simmons wrote and drew the book which features undead characters called Revenants. "You wont find a company that gives as much creative freedom as Radical did, said Simmons. The comics creator said he initially envisioned the story as a kind of vampire book but added,Looking for 1920s clip art, "I didn't think my had was skilled enough to leak that bloated genre *ahem*twilight*cough*"<br><br>The first issue went on sale this month and sold out. Copies of the book -- more than twice the size of a normal comic -- were on sale at the show for $5.00.<br><br>The prolific duo of Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Grey have 'Time Bomb' coming,Ralphy's Guestbook. Palmiotti says that he and Grey have been planning the book for years but needed to find the right publisher to pull off the block buster concept. The premise finds a team excavating a hidden city in Germany that houses Nazi doomsday device that was buried there at the end of World War II. The device triggers and major portions of Europe are wiped out. The world leaders try to reverse the incident by employing an experimental device to send a team back a few days to the discovery of the device. Instead the team ends up travelling to the final days of WWII and take on a new mission to infiltrate the secret Halloween Costumes Nazi stronghold and prevent the doomsday device from ever being made.<br><br>Sam Sakar discussed his acclaimed book 'Caliber - First Canon of Justice' which transplants King Arthur and Camelot in America's old west. That book is collected as a trade paperback for the first time this summer. A follow up series called 'Book of the Dead' is coming soon. The new series turns the focus on Lance, an invicible gunslinger with an aversion to killing. It also brings in the classic characters of Tristain and Isolde.<br><br>On the 'Shrapnel' front an new series called 'Hubris' is on the way. Creator Nick Sagan describes the series as an antidote to 'Star Trek' and instead depicts the human excursion into space that is frought with all the failings of the race.<br><br>Following the panel Radical announced their new book, 'Abbatoir' (which Mania readers learned about on Friday), which comes from filmmaker Darren Bousman. Radical also announced that Bousman will write and direct the feature film version of the comic.
