 So instead of worrying about whether there will be any loss of oil pressure if the plug is omitted, just be sure to install the plug- correctly. Then the plug will not be an issue, period.  Chev just use the Wix 2 qt truck filter Wix 2 qt filter, part # 51794.
 Fram PH373 or Purolater L40084 are 2 qt filters
-Wix made filter, CARQUST 85061, NAPA 1061 etc. I forbid them to use the Orange filter. I like the 85061 vs the 85060 as there is less restriction at the filter base as there is no check valve under the base, which is not needed with mounted vertical.
