+ | Sir, | ||
+ | I have a Chevy "P" case carrier I want to install 4:56 gears in...Next to the "P" on the case are the following numbers:
− | + | E284 GM | |
− | + | ||
− | + | 3789812 | |
− | + | ||
− | + | on the other side of the carrier is a tag that I believe has the following:
− | + | BX0519 | |
− | + | I was told I need a "4" series "P" case carrier for these gears...how can I tell if this is a 4 series case?
− | + | Sincerely Jerry Wink

+ | :That said, I believe the code "BX" indicates a 3.08:1 ratio differential/ring gear and pinion was originally installed. What you need is a differential that's a 4-series, or you'll need to use a spacer made so the 4-series gears will work w/a 3-series differential. But the cast iron part the diff bolts into will work w/either the 3- or 4-series diff.[[User:Cobalt327|Cobalt327]] |
