Strides 4 Students Fun Run fundraiser set for ShoWare on Aug<br><br>Communities In Schools of Kent and South Sudan Community Restoration Program, a mission of Kent Lutheran Church, present Strides 4 Students Fun Run, a 5 K race/walk and Fill the Bus activity on Saturday, Aug. 24 at ShoWare Center. for walkers.<br><br>Entry fee is $25 for adults with discounts for youths, teams, families and those who register by Aug. 1.<br><br>On hand to cheer on the runners and walkers will be the Sounders Women's Soccer Team and the Seattle Thunderbirds' mascot, Cool Bird.<br><br>Proceeds from the fun run will be used to build and furnish a primary school in Malual, South Sudan.<br><br>"This program was formed after a large group of South Sudanese families joined our membership at Kent Lutheran Church," said Debbie Hunt, South Sudan Community Restoration Program coordinator. "Our goal is to fill the bus and send as many children as we can back to school with the basic supplies their families could not otherwise afford."<br><br>SSCRP is a ministry of Kent Lutheran Church, a non profit organization focused on a community in the Upper White Nile Region of South Sudan to make repatriation possible for those who wish to return, and to improve the quality of life for those who chose to remain.<br><br>CISK's mission is to empower students to stay in school and achieve in life by providing a wide range of support services that include mentoring, academic services, and resources to students in need of support.
