Lack of historical knowledge blamed on anti<br><br> An attorney for one of the two suspects accused of spray painting anti Semitic messages, including swastikas, at a predominantly Jewish Penn State University fraternity says his client's ignorance of world history is a factor in the case.<br><br>Police said Eric Hyland, of Export, Pa., and Hayden Grom, of New Fairfield, Conn., both 19, are accused of committing the vandalism to vehicles and other property in the area of the Beta Sigma Beta fraternity house in Sate College in November.<br><br>Hyland waived his preliminary hearing Monday and Grom waived his hearing in December. "He did not grasp the significance of that symbol."<br><br>McClenahen said his client is not anti Semitic and he would be assigning Grom to read books and watch movies to understand the significance of why so many people are upset by the vandalism.<br><br>"He did not understand what the Nazi's had done and their ring of terror," McClenahen said. "In order to be a Nazi or a neo Nazi, you have to actually know who the Nazis were and what their beliefs were."<br><br>Police said they were able to track the pair down through community tips and the use of surveillance video.
